RFID Asset Tags, Readers and Asset Verification in Kenya

RFID asset tags, handheld readers and asset verification for your organisation

An RFID asset tag carries a small chip that a reader picks up from a distance, so you can check many assets quickly without scanning each tag one by one. Nice AMS supplies passive UHF RFID asset tags and handheld RFID readers in Kenya, together or separately. Our team can come to your premises to verify your assets against your fixed asset register, and our asset management software keeps the results in one place.

Our RFID services

RFID asset tags

Passive UHF RFID tags in different formats: standard adhesive labels, flexible on-metal tags and rugged industrial tags. We can add your logo, asset numbers and barcodes to the tags where the tag type supports it.

Handheld RFID readers

Compatible handheld readers for organisations that want to run their own physical asset verification. Setup, training and software integration are included where required.

RFID physical asset verification

Our team visits your premises, scans your tagged assets, reconciles the results against your fixed asset register and reports the assets that are missing, unrecorded or in the wrong place.

RFID asset management solutions

Tags, readers, asset register preparation and reconciliation, combined with our asset management software, which works with all our tags: barcode, QR code and RFID.

RFID tag types

Tag typeSuited to
Standard adhesive labelsEveryday assets such as office equipment and furniture
Flexible on-metal tagsMetal assets, where an ordinary RFID label would not read well
Rugged industrial tagsHarsh conditions, outdoor use and heavy equipment

Not sure which tag your assets need? Tell us what you are tagging and we recommend the right mix. For a visible number, barcode or QR code on the asset, we also supply aluminium fixed asset tags, engraved asset tags and barcode asset tags.

RFID implementation packages

Four packages cover most projects, from a first RFID pilot to a large multi-site deployment. Prices are in Kenya shillings. The final price depends on your assets, the tag mix and the number of sites, and we confirm it in your quote.

How RFID asset verification works

  1. Each asset gets an RFID tag with a unique ID, linked to its line in your asset register.
  2. The tag is fixed to the asset.
  3. A handheld reader scans rooms, stores or yards and captures every tag it picks up.
  4. The scan is reconciled against your fixed asset register.
  5. You receive a report of assets that are missing, unrecorded or misplaced.

RFID asset tags compared with barcode and QR code tags

Many organisations use both: barcode asset tags or QR code asset tags across the whole register, and RFID where counting speed matters. Our guide to barcode, QR code and RFID asset tags goes into more detail.

Ordering RFID tags and readers

RFID tags and readers are supplied to order, together or separately. Allow about 2 weeks from the day your order is confirmed. Our standard barcode and QR code tags are much faster: 500 tags can be ready in 1 day. Prices depend on the tag type, quantity, reader and project size, so we quote each order.

When RFID is worth it

  • You track hundreds or thousands of assets and count them often.
  • Assets are stored in places where scanning each tag is slow, such as shelves, stores or yards.
  • You need quick audits against the register for public sector or corporate compliance. See our guide to asset tagging compliance.

RFID asset tag questions

What is an RFID asset tag?

An RFID asset tag has a small chip with a unique ID that an RFID reader can pick up from a distance. It is linked to the asset's record in your register.

What types of RFID tags do you supply?

Passive UHF RFID tags as standard adhesive labels, flexible on-metal tags and rugged industrial tags. We can add your logo, asset numbers and barcodes where the tag supports it.

Do I need an RFID reader?

Yes. RFID tags are read by an RFID reader, unlike barcode and QR code tags that a scanner or phone camera reads. You can buy the tags and readers together or separately, so if you already have readers you can order tags only.

Can you scan and verify our assets for us?

Yes. Our team comes to your premises, scans the tagged assets, reconciles the results against your fixed asset register and reports missing, unrecorded and misplaced assets.

Do you provide training for the readers?

Yes. We set up the reader and train your staff, and we integrate with your software where required.

How long does an RFID order take?

About 2 weeks from the day your order is confirmed. Barcode and QR code asset tags are faster, with 500 tags ready in 1 day.

How much do RFID asset tags and readers cost?

RFID packages start at Ksh 125,000 for up to 200 assets and one site, Ksh 275,000 for up to 1,000 assets, Ksh 650,000 for up to 3,000 assets across 3 sites, and from Ksh 1,250,000 for up to 5,000 assets across 5 sites. Tags and readers can also be bought separately; request a quote with your number of assets and sites. For comparison, barcode asset tags cost about Ksh 65 to 100 each on small orders.

Can I use RFID and barcode tags together?

Yes. Many organisations keep barcode or QR code tags on every asset and add RFID where fast counting matters, with all of them linked to the same register.

Can I buy RFID tags without readers, or readers without tags?

Yes. Tags and readers can be ordered together or separately. Tell us what you already have when you request a quote.

Do you have asset management software for RFID tags?

Yes. Our asset management software works with all our tags, including barcode, QR code and RFID, so your scans and verification results are kept against each asset in your register.

Which RFID package should I choose?

RFID Starter suits a first verification of up to 200 assets. RFID Professional is our recommended package if you want your own reader and to repeat verification yourself. RFID Enterprise suits several departments or sites, and RFID Enterprise Plus suits large institutions with up to 5,000 assets.
